The i20 Advantage Video Presentation

These Videos are here to explain the i20 Technology.

The i2o Advantage - part 1 of 3

This video explain why you need peer-to-peer technology so you gain the i2o advantage. i2o Technology: Which is one of he easiest way to link your inputs to your outputs without a PLC, PC or master CPU. This is part 1 of a 3 part series of the i2o advantage.

The i2o Advantage - part 2 of 3

This video explains how i2o works along with I/O mapping for digital I/O, analog I/O, and temperature. Configuration examples are also explained.

The i2o Advantage - part 3 of 3

In this final series four applications are explained.

1. Paper plant remote monitoring application,
2. remote pump control with i2o back to Modicon 984 PLC application,
3. power utilities switching & sensing application,
4. i2o with redundant fiber optics Acromag Ethernet switches.

Application Note: Monitoring Stator Temperatures with Remote Profibus I/O

Defining the Problem:
A Power Plant has Hydroelectric Generators with 10 ohm copper 3 wire RTDs embedded in the stator motor windings. The RTDs are far away from a PLC in the control room. The long distance is picking up noise that is interfering with their measurements.
System Requirements:
A Siemens PLC can communicate using Profibus DP / RS485. Install Remote Profibus I/O, Class 1 Div 2 approved, close to the RTDs. Shorter RTDs, with proper shields and grounding techniques, will significantly reduce the noise for more accurate measurements.

Featured Product
966PB-2006

Implementing the Solution:
1. Select a Slave Address and configure the 966PB-2006 parameters using a GSD file. Download the file into the PLC.
2. Wire the RTDs, power and Earth Ground.
3. Program the PLC for 50 to 80°C normal RTD temperature ranges.
4. Validate the measurements.
Why Acromag:
The on for interoperability with Profibus equipment ensuring ease of set up and operation. The products are fully isolated and engineered with a Siemens SPC3 intelligent ASIC providing reliable Profibus communications.

The Kiaro! D family of printers achieves BS5609 Certfication

The Kiaro! D family of label printers have officially passed the BS5609 Certification for GHS labels. The Kairo! D family are available in three models for any sized label, and all are able to produce BS5609-compliant labels.

What does BS5609 Certification mean exactly?

BS5609 certification is the internationally recognised British Standard for pressure-sensitive adhesive labels used for overseas shipping. Also known as the Marine Immersion Label Testing Standard. Chemical manufacturers refer to this standard when their labels are used on hazardous chemical containers transported by overseas shipping.
The certification establishes whether or not the labels remain adhesive and readable when coming into prolonged contact with the abrasive nature of both sea water and sand.
Elements, including those required by GHS, such as red and black ink of GHS pictograms, hazard statements and health warnings all must remain identifiable on the label with slight or no colour change or print removal in order to pass BS5609 certification.

The Kiaro! D family consists of three models

The Kiaro! D Label Printer
Variable colour shoe box labels, hardware labels, electrical labels, lighting labels, industrial product labels, and colour warehouse labels are examples of ideal uses of the Kiaro! D. Its reliable operation, 5.9 ips print speed, and 1200 dpi print quality make the Kiaro! D a star performer for your packaging room or production facility. Like the original Kiaro!, the Kiaro! D prints labels from 1”- 4” wide and up to more than 15” in length. The Kiaro! D is compatible with matte polypropylene and paper label materials and doesn’t require lamination to make durable labels.

The Kiaro! 200 D Label Printer
The Kiaro! 200D is the quintessential extra-wide label printer, capable of making durable labels in large sizes for gallon jugs, shipping drums, pallets, cartons, and cases – all in full CMYK colour.

The Kiaro! 50 D Label Printer
The Kiaro! 50D is small and tough. It prints small, durable labels that withstand big challenges from industrial environments. The Kiaro! 50D is ideal for printing small GHS labels with red and black pictograms that also have brand logos and product graphics in full CMYK colour!

Wind Tunnel Testing

Application Summary
Wind tunnels are used in aerodynamic research to study the effects of air moving past solid objects referred to as models. A model is mounted onto a stationary tri-axial sensor which provides measurement of the pressure placed on the object at test.

Products in Use
Tri-Axial Load Cell (MTA400) paired with Instrumentation (CSG110 Amplifier & USB Solutions).

How it Works
  1. Researchers use wind tunnels to learn more about the relationship between airflow and an object. Precise measurement modules are needed to accurately record findings.
  2. The MTA400 is fixed on a test stand to quantify the force placed on a model. The model is then fastened onto the Tri-Axial Load Cell which will record precise pressure measurement in response to the conditions of the wind tunnel.
  3. These force measures can be streamed to a PC utilizing FUTEK's USB Solutions.
  4. Once streamed to a PC, that data can then be monitored by FUTEK's SENSIT™ Test and Measurement Software. SENSIT can monitor up to 16 channels of measurement readings, as well as live graph and data log.

How to weigh a medical saline or IV bag

Application Summary

In IV or saline bag weighing, high-precision, In-Line load cells are needed. For this application, FUTEK’s LSB200 Miniature S-Beam Load Cell will measure the tension force applied by an IV bag.

Products in Use

Miniature S-Beam Jr. (LSB200) paired with Instrumentation (IPM650, IHH500, USB Solutions, or CSG110 Amplifier).

How it Works

1. Laboratory equipment, such as dialysis machines or patient monitoring devices, often use test and measurement products either within the machinery or for quality testing.

2. In this illustration, FUTEK’s LSB200 miniature load cell has been mounted to the fixture frame of the IV bag weighing apparatus.

3. Utilising a LSB200 accessory hook, the IV bag can then be anchored to the load cell.

4. The LSB200, equipped with built-in overload protection, will then measure the tensile force applied, streaming the data to any of the following instruments: CSG110, IHH500, IPM650 or USB Solutions.

5. If utilising either of FUTEK's digital displays or USB Solutions, options exist for technicians to record results, log and graph data with SENSIT Test and Measurement Software.

System Requirements:

Field instruments used are pressure transmitters (PT), temperature sensors (T/C), and flowmeters (FM) with 4-20mA outputs. Remote I/O convert the analogue inputs to Modbus TCP/IP on Ethernet which communicates with the Building Automation System (BAS) for data logging, trending, and histograms.

Implementing the Solution:

1. Configure the module using Acromag Windows® based software via USB connection.

2. Connect the field instruments and verify input status using the software test & polling feature.

3. Program the BAS with the remote I/O network parameters and Modbus registers.
