Jim on Engineering, Episode 81: MIL-STD 810 Test Method 514.6 Vibration

Vibration testing as part of MIL-STD 810 Test Method 514 looks for damage to an electrical unit as a result of shipping or operational vibration. Vibration could result in wires that might chafe, circuit boards that might crack or fatigue failures in metals or materials.

In Episode 81, Jim Shaw, Crystal Group’s EVP of Engineering explains how the test represents the entire lifetime of damage that a unit might actually endure due to vibration.
